About Me

I became a Maths tutor in 2003. I am a qualified FCCA (Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants). I worked as an auditor for KPMG for 4 years. I was the accountant involved in the channel launch of The Discovery Channel, The Learning Channel, UK Living and Playboy TV. I also worked as the Merchandise Accountant at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club and was involved in the launch of the Kappa kit- the first tight fitting premiership kit!

I have an enormous passion for Maths. When I was in school, I didn’t find my Maths teachers inspiring. Being an Indian girl, getting the highest grade/ 100% was expected (nothing less would do!) so I asked my parents to buy me a few textbooks and I taught myself. I devised other methods for solving problems, got some rhythm into the numbers and I fell in love! My first true love!

All my students have developed a love for Maths. Once the student has been taught the basic foundations and then realises that that there are several methods to use to solve a problem and finds one to suit them, they find Maths a challenging game and it becomes fun and rewarding. I have significantly raised students' grades.

MY GREAT STORIES

When I began tutoring my own son, Andreas, in Maths and English in Year 5, his teacher noticed a significant improvement in his work and she recommended me to a few parents whose children were struggling. I started teaching another 5 students from my son’s class. These students were the only ones who achieved a Level 5A in both Maths and English in their Year 6 SATs.  Success!

I had a 15 year old boy (tall Rugby player 6ft 2 inches...I am 5ft 1 in) who came for his first tuition and said, very seriously, “My Mum sent me for tuitions.” When he came for his second tuition, he smiled and said “My Mum didn’t send me for tuitions today. And I’ve done my homework!”   Bless!

A student of mine absolutely hated Maths. She started tuitions in Year 5, went on to get an A* at GCSE, an A at AS Level, an A in A2 and is studying Maths at University.  Awesome!

A student who was predicted a D or maybe a C if she worked harder astounded her parents by getting a strong B, a few marks off an A. She even managed to correctly answer a question that went viral on the internet, claimed to be horrendously difficult! Sheer joy!

One year, I had 6 students all from the same class, in a school that briefly allowed students to take their maths GCSE in Year 10. They grabbed the opportunity, put their heart and mind to it and all the students got an A* or an A!   So proud of them!
